Professional Development Courses & Supervision Groups

By the time we're seventeen years old, we've heard "No, you can't," an average of 150,000 times. We've heard "Yes, you can," about 5000 times. That's thirty no's for every yes. That makes for a powerful belief of "I can't."

~The Answer, John Assaraf & Murray Smith

  • Roughly a quarter of American adults (23%) say they haven’t read a book in whole or in part in the past year, whether in print, electronic or audio form, according to a Pew Research Center survey of U.S. adults conducted Jan. 25-Feb. 8, 2021.
  • According to a University of Scranton survey, only 8% of adults achieve their goals, which is a 92% failure rate.
  • According to Reliable Plant, only 20% of people set goals for themselves, which means that 80% of people don’t set goals.
  • What’s even more unfortunate is that out of the 20% of people who do set goals, only about 30% of people will succeed. That means that only a third of those people who set goals actually achieve them and of all people, that makes 6%.

Upcoming Professional Development Group

The professional development therapist group scheduled to start 10/16, is now closed. A second professional development group with a start date of 10/17, is closed.  If interested in the January, 2025, professional development group (dates to be determined), please complete the registration form below.

I will facilitate a weekly closed professional development group meeting for psychotherapists starting in October. This professional development group experience is open to graduate psychotherapy students, post-graduate MFT and LPC Candidates, and all licensed mental health professionals, offering a unique opportunity for clinician growth and development.

Do your clients need help with taking action toward a transformative goal? Acting against the compelling force of homeostasis may be more challenging when a client aims for a life-changing goal that will impact all domains of relational experience. This group experience will focus on the goldmine of psychotherapy—the post-goal development action phase.

Identifying a single transformative outcome during the goal development phase of psychotherapy holds significant therapeutic value. However, the post-goal action phase is where the real therapeutic magic happens. It's psychotherapy's most challenging yet therapeutically impactful phase. Therapists who provide their clients with the support to overcome impediments to action will benefit their clients significantly and experience a deep sense of professional fulfillment.

This professional development group experience will be structured around the Assessment, Goal, and Intervention (AGI) sequential practice framework. This framework, designed for real-world application, will be used to introduce the potential therapeutic gains from each progressive phase of treatment, with a specific focus on the post-goal development action phase. Participants will gain insights to guide clients from hope to action - and maybe take some action steps of their own. 🙂

Maximize the potential gains from this group by scheduling a new client to start soon after the first day of our group meetings.

Dates: January, 2025 (dates to be determined)

Cost: $35, per person each group meeting.
